Elevate Your Home’s Backyard with Custom Gunite Pools

What Are Custom Gunite Pools?

Gunite (also referred to as gunite shotcrete) refers to the concrete that’s used when designing a gunite pool. First, gunite pools are built using a steel shell. Then, Gunite shotcrete is projected at high speeds around the steel structure. Finally, the concrete settles into place around the shell of your swimming pool to form your beautiful new swimming pool. With gunite pools, the sky’s the limit. Our gunite specialists can hand-craft and contour any size or shape gunite pool you can conceive. Gunite’s sturdy and long-lasting properties make it an ideal choice for the homeowner looking for a durable, leak-resistant, and sleek-looking swimming pool.

Design and Form

After finalizing the layout and design of your new custom luxury gunite pool, obtaining HOA approval, and securing local permits, we’ll arrange an on-site meeting at your home.

We’ll map out your vision with you using our state-of-the-art design software. We’ll show you your new backyard overlaid with your exact house and backyard dimensions for your new custom gunite pool.

Excavation

Our hard-working gunite specialists and woodworkers will form the shape of your pool, ensure your backyard remains exactly as it was laid out, and then dig! This is where the magic happens. As the space for construction takes shape, so too does your new gunite pool.

Steel Fitting

Now that we’ve dug and pre-plumbed the pool, we need to fit it for gunite concrete. The rebar for your new custom gunite pool will be customized and bent. It will be fit to strengthen and reinforce your pool shell. Quite literally, your pool begins to take shape!

Gunite

The day has finally come: gunite day!

Gunite is the concrete we use to shape the pool’s shell. Gunite concrete is pumped through an industrial hose and sprayed onto and into your pool’s structure.

Next, our expert craftsmen go to work to hand-shape and form the curves, benches, steps, deco trim, vertical walls, and features that form your new spa-like oasis. Within the span of a few hours, your pool takes shape.

Tile and Coping

From glass mosaics to porcelain square tiles, you’ll have an endless number of possibilities when it comes to the tiling and coping of your new gunite pool!

After the tiling is complete, the top edging of the pool — the coping — is installed.

We’ll present you with all your tiling and coping options. Choose natural stone, concrete pavers, travertine, or more. Keep in mind that you’ll receive comprehensive support from our materials selection team during all parts of this process.

Decking

After tiling and coping, our gunite specialists go to work on installing the decking around your pool. All decking materials are cut and fit on-site.

Our job isn’t complete until you’re completely satisfied with your final deck layout.

Interior finishes

Your design team revs up and works on the interior finish of your new pool. We then fill the pool with water. Sit tight: your pool is nearly complete!

Finishing Touches

Now that the pool is designed and filled with water, we power up the pumps and equipment. We’ll test to make sure your pool works properly.

At this stage, we also add any necessary pool treatments to help balance your pool’s water chemistry. The next 30 days are crucial for your pool’s success.

To make sure your pool turns out the way it was designed, we keep a close eye on everything during this stage of pool-building.

Relax and Enjoy!

We’ve packed up, cleaned, dusted, and headed out. It’s time to enjoy! But that’s not all: the first three months of service on your brand-new pool are on us.

If after our 3-month pool maintenance service you wish to continue your pool service, we’re always a phone call away. We’re happy to chat about how we can help you care for your new pool.

What else should I budget for with a gunite pool?

We recommend budgeting for all of these services and products for your next custom gunite pool project:

  • Landscaping
  • Fencing
  • Patio furniture
  • Utility hookups and upgrades
  • Pool accessories
How is gunite different from other pools?

Gunite pools are built with a signature concrete-spraying process. Gunite shotcrete — a mixture of sand, cement, and water — is sprayed at high velocities onto a steel framework, all of which then forms the shape of your new pool.

With a gunite pool, you’ll have more flexibility in customizing the shape of your pool than with a fiberglass or pre-fabricated pool.

How is gunite shotcrete used in a gunite pool?

Pressurized concrete guns spray the mixture of sand, water, and cement onto the framework of your pool.

The resulting concrete then cures. During this process, gunite artisans shape the concrete into the pool’s frame.

As our gunite specialists apply the concrete to your new pool frame, your new pool literally takes shape.
